RITES OF HADDA
Rites of Hadda is an anarcho-pagan-gothic-psychedelic-stoner-punk band that formed as the result of a weekly jam night in a North London squat. They play a blend of heads-down occult-tinged punk rock with a melodic edge. Lyrically, the band takes in everything from social commentary about capitalism and the forces of government, to more personal and visceral subject matter. Musically, the band’s influences include Hawkwind, Black Sabbath, The Poison Girls, Acid Mother’s Temple, Motörhead, Crass, Hüsker Dü, Inner City Unit, Judas Priest, Plasmatics, Leatherface, The Surfaris and Dead Kennedys. Rites of Hadda has released two albums, ‘Witchpunk’ (2018) and ‘Occult Sex Worker’ (2023). Their latest EP, 2024’s ‘Soiling other people’s knickers’, sees the band covering songs by The Astronauts, anarchistwood and T-Bitch. Featuring Wasp Howl on vocals, Simon Clarke on saxophone, Alex Lyng on guitar, Paul Maybin on bass and Matthias Winter on drums, expect a riveting and raucous set of sax ‘n’ drag ‘n’ rock & roll!
